Understanding the Fertility Crisis

Modern Fertility is Shifting, and Not for the Better.

1 in 5 women in the United States experience infertility.

Men’s sperm counts have declined by more than 50 percent in the last 50 years.

These are not isolated statistics. They reflect a broader shift in reproductive health across both men and women.

Understanding the Science

Research published in journals such as Human Reproduction Update and data from the Cleveland Clinic show consistent trends in declining fertility markers, delayed childbearing, metabolic dysfunction, and increased reliance on assisted reproductive technologies. So what the heck is going on?

Fertility is influenced by both biology and lifestyle, and studies show that preparing your body before conception leads to healthier pregnancies, stronger ovulation, balanced hormones, improved sperm quality, and better birth outcomes.

How Diet & Lifestyle Impacts Fertility

Current fertility reflects your day-to-day habits over years. We live in a country where we have more options in the choices we make than anywhere else in the world compared to any other time in history (Praise God!). With this blessing of endless opportunities, we also have the ability to make or break our health by the choices we make in our day-to-day lives that build up over time:

  • Nutrition: Processed foods, low nutrient density, and inconsistent eating disrupt hormones and fertility.

  • Movement: Sedentary routines or inconsistent exercise impact circulation, metabolism, and hormone signaling.

  • Stress: Chronic stress suppresses ovulation, reduces progesterone, and affects sperm quality.

  • Sleep: Less than 7 hours of quality sleep consistently alters reproductive hormones.

  • Toxins: Everyday exposures—from plastics to chemicals—can subtly impact fertility.

  • Conflicting Advice: Social media trends and well-meaning opinions often confuse rather than guide.

Every habit, every meal, every night of rest, every stressor has a cumulative effect on reproductive health.

Root Causes of Infertility

Infertility is rarely random. Often, it is a symptom of deeper imbalances in the body, such as:

  • Hormonal Imbalance: Irregular ovulation or low progesterone can hinder conception.

  • Metabolic Disruption: Insulin resistance and inflammation affect fertility in both women and men.

  • Lifestyle Stressors: Chronic stress or poor sleep suppresses reproductive function.

  • Environmental Factors: Toxins and lifestyle exposures interfere with hormone signaling.

Understanding these root causes is key. Fertility is not about luck, it is about foundation.

The Confusion Surrounding Fertility & Health

“You’re just at that age.”

“It hasn’t been 12 months yet. Just be patient and come back if it hasn’t happened by then.”

“Just relax.”

Have you ever heard comments like these from your medical team? We have a major infertility crisis going on and the “quick fix” we’re often told is to enroll in IVF or simply be told there’s nothing you can do.

Fun Fact: Neither of those options are necessarily the best option!

Oftentimes, medical professionals mask the problem with unnecessary interventions, medications, surgery, or they tell you you’re basically the problem without addressing the root cause.

On top of that, social media displays crowds of people telling you what health trends are “in” right now and other people saying you should avoid that same thing at all costs. And then you realize they aren’t even professionals in that field!

It all seems SO overwhelming. I was there too.

My Approach

I chose fertility health coaching because women deserve more than confusion and temporary fixes.

I help women:

  • Understand their unique bodies and hormonal rhythms

  • Restore balance through nutrition, lifestyle, and mindset

  • Address root causes of infertility rather than just symptoms

  • Build confidence in their preconception health

You don’t have to wait until there is a problem or until modern medicine catches up with God’s design. Start preparing your body today to strengthen your foundation for pregnancy.

Preparing your body for pregnancy takes work, dedication, patience, and grace for yourself.

But trust me, you will never regret improving your health.
